What is our Paintable Repair Filler and how do you use it?Updated a month ago

Angelus Paintable Repair Filler is perfect for repairing minor holes and scratches. This leather filler, mixable with Angelus Leather Paints, aids in seamless repairs, drying to a flexible finish that helps prevent future cracks and tears. It's ideal for repairing midsole cuts or pitting, cuts or holes in leather, and even gashes in your car seats. Its multi-purpose use makes it the perfect addition to your Angelus collection.

How to use:

  1. Prep your surface. This may include deglazing the surface with our Leather Preparer & Deglazer or acetone. We recommend sanding the surface to allow the filler to bond more effectively.

  2. Apply the filler. Ensure the filler penetrates deep into the crack, cut, or hole. Apply every layer thinly and smoothly for easier sanding later. Please note that you may need multiple layers of filler for the best results.

  3. Drying time. After applying each layer of filler, it's crucial to allow it to dry properly. Drying times can vary depending on the climate, but generally, waiting over an hour before applying another layer or starting to sand is a good rule. This ensures the filler has set properly, providing a solid base for further refinement.

  4. Sand and level the filler. Once the filler is dry, use sandpaper to sand and level it. The grit of sandpaper you use will depend on the surface you are working with. We recommend starting with a lower grit and working your way up to a higher grit to ensure a smooth, even surface without rough patches.

  5. Paint. You're ready to paint once you've achieved the desired surface texture. At this stage, your item should be well-prepared for the application of Angelus Leather Paints, ensuring a seamless and durable finish.

By following these steps and paying close attention to drying times, you can achieve professional-quality repairs at home. The Angelus Paintable Repair Filler is an essential tool for anyone looking to restore or customize their leather goods, providing a strong, flexible base for creative projects.
