How do I dye synthetic or rubber shoes with Rit Dye?Updated 2 years ago

To create dyebath, fill stainless steel pot with 3 gallons of water and heat to 170F. Don’t add shoes directly into boiling water as the heat might alter the shoe’s integrity

Wearing protective gloves, carefully add hot water from the stovetop into a plastic container for dyeing. Make sure container is large enough for both shoes. Add well-shaken DyeMore into dyebath.

If dyeing one shoe after another, create another dyebath with the same dye measurements. Utilizing the same dyebath for the second shoe will result in a less saturated dyebath because the first shoe will absorb most of the pigment.

Add shoes into dyebath and stir occasionally for 10 minutes or until desired color is achieved.

If adhesive becomes loose during the dyeing process, simply place parts back and clamp together or weigh it down so that it re-adheres as it dries
